Natural Skin Care Products

Natural Skin Care Products

The beauty and natural skin care market is one of the most popular markets — and we can understand why! After powdering our faces with petrochemicals for ages, nowadays, it seems like everyone has been going crazy for natural skin care. No matter where you go online or offline, you see the natural skin care craze on social media, on store shelves – you name it! In fact, the market for natural skincare is expected to continue to grow to somewhere around $13 billion by 2030. But. what does natural skin care even mean? Often, the term “natural” or “organic” suggests that a product has been crafted without artificial ingredients, synthetics or harsh chemicals – all of which has been linked to producing a number of health issues for many people.

For those of you who’ve had poor experiences with conventional beauty and natural skin care products, or have found them ineffective, we guarantee that natural skin care will offer the promise of better, gentler and overall healthier results.

What is Natural Skin Care Products?

What is Natural Skin Care Products?

In brief, all natural skin care features organic ingredients that aren't man-made, but instead come from plant sources. Ingredients found in these kinds of skin care products include everything that aren’t red flags like carcinogenic, hormone disrupting, or allergenic. Natural skin care is safe to use because it is generally not considered to be toxic by environmental agencies. Natural skin care includes a number of products including creams, balms, serums, lotions, deodorants, toners, exfoliators, scrubs, masks and many more. While there is a lot offered, the way that a brand markets their natural skin care and beauty products is important.

When it comes to certifications, there are various terms used for what’s considered ‘natural’ or organic skin care. While some have associated regulatory bodies and certifications, others don’t.

Eco-Friendly Certification in Skin Care Products

Eco-Friendly Certification in Skin Care Products

Fair-Trade

This is a certification that has more to do with the source and less with the functionality of said contained ingredients in a product. When it comes to natural skin care, some ingredients may be produced with little regard for the health, development and safety of the farmers and growers. Given this, there are many in the natural health movement who are becoming more eco-conscious and aware and have worked greatly to take a stand against such practices of exploitation. Even if something is good for your skin health, is it also good for the environment around you? For the planet and other people? Certainly, this is something to consider and think about.

Organic Skin Care Products

Organic products are able to be certified by organic certification regulatory bodies. Organic can also be a term chosen by the manufacturer to indicate that all of the organic ingredients are from natural sources, typically plant-based ones. So, even if a product has not been certified organic, other ingredients used in its creation may be listed certified organic. There are a number of products that have been formulated with organic ingredients. But, going the extra mile to getting certification can mean that much more for the credibility and cleanness of a brand and also eco-aware customers.

Green Skin Care Products

It varies when it comes to the term Green. But at its core, it’s all about sustainability and environmental impact. Often used interchangeably the terms green and organic and usually produced with a bit of mindfulness and awareness towards the impact the production of a single product of a product line has on the environment. For example, certain materials may be harvested a certain way to reduce pollution. While this is great and all, there isn’t any current regulatory body that offers Green product certification.

Clean Skin Care Products

These are typically the products that place a heavy emphasis on the term ‘non-toxic’. People also use ‘non-toxic’ in the context of clean eating, which can also carry the meaning of consuming whole, natural foods and avoiding processed foods and other harmful ingredients. The same thing applies when it comes to clean and natural skin care products, which in essence, entails minimal, simple, yet effective ingredients. Nearly identical to the term ‘green’, there is currently no standard or legitimate certification in place for what is considered a  “clean” product means, so in theory, any company may use this term – if they’re prepared to support their ingredient choices, that is.

Vegan Skin Care Products

Products made vegan or vegetarian are created without any animal ingredients or by-products. Similar to cruelty-free, in brief, this means that neither the finished product, nor its ingredients involved animal testing. Unlike the other terms, vegan products do have at least one certification. While vegan products are almost always cruelty-free,  there are times where products claimed to be cruelty-free (which don’t necessarily have to be vegan) are not actually cruelty-free and may contain animal byproducts. While this is rare, it can occur.

Ethical, sustainable, or local are also terms used in the beauty and skin care industry to describe natural products. The bottom line is, consumers who desire cruelty-free, all natural products ought to carefully read the ingredient list and study the standards of each certification to ensure that what they’re purchasing is safe and clean. Doing this ensures you’re purchasing natural skin care and beauty that reflect your values and meet your skin care needs.

Organic skin care products are made from natural ingredients. Organic skin care products prioritize naturalness and minimal environmental impact. Unlike conventional products, which may contain artificial additives, organic products are designed for comprehensive skin care using natural ingredients.
Natural skin care products are often perceived as the best due to their natural ingredients and fewer synthetic additives. Some may benefit from a gentler approach, while others find traditional ones more suitable skin care products. Personal skin type and concerns play an important role in determining what suits and works best.
To distinguish genuine organic skincare products from misleading ones, look for credible certifications (like USDA Organic), read ingredient lists for natural ingredients carefully, avoid products with hidden synthetic additives.
When choosing organic skin care products, look for certifications such as USDA Organic. These certifications ensure that the products meet strict organic standards and contain the natural ingredients listed on the packaging of the organic skin care product you choose.
